Hepatitis C Advocates UNITED! ACTION ALERT

URGE YOUR MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT MLA'S AND SENATORS TO FUND HEPATITIS C IN THEIR ANNUAL HEALTH FINANCING BUDGET PLANS

When Federal and Provincial Governments allocate health care funding for the Fiscal Year 2009 substantial and permanent annual allocations must be set aside for the testing, diagnosis and treatment of Hepatitis C. We need your help in raising awareness of this disease with all our elected officials at every level of government and asking their support for increased funding for hepatitis C activities at all levels. Hepatitis advocates are asking for easily accessed testing for the disease, proper treatment with the latest drugs for all those infected and more money and effort put into the national liver transplant program.

Over the next year, all elected officials in Canada will be putting their budgets together for 2009 please make sure to include funding for these priorities. The more elected officials in Canada that raise this issue at every level of government the greater the likelihood the needed financing for the needed care will be included in the budgets that follow.

Hepatitis C impacts between 300,000 and 450,000 but proper care and treatment is limited to only a small portion of them and in limited facilities. We need individual Canadians to tell their stories and ask their elected representatives to take action.

Step-by-step instructions on what to do are below:

1. Determine who you Federal MP is, also your federal Senator and you local provincial MLA. You can find their names and contact information online:

2. Call the Members Offices ask to meet with them to discuss the problem and make sure they understand the need.

3. Download and complete the Sample Letter and mail it to your MP & Senator.
